Mindfulness, Meditation and Managing Stress

This course is eligible for one hour of CE/CME for MDs, PAs, NPs, RNs, LPNs, LVNs, Social Workers, and Long Term Care Administrators.

Healthcare professionals are charged with substantial expectations in order to support patients and families in stressful situations. While it may be difficult to find an hour or more to implement self-care, the use of short, frequent mindfulness practices offer the opportunity to pause briefly in the day to reset our mental and emotional state. A growing body of research suggests that short-term intensive mind-body healing practices may lead to significant and sustained increases in perceived well-being.

Aside from meditation, mindfulness practice applies to areas of life such as how much sleep we get, the kinds of food we eat, body movement or exercise, how we structure our restorative time, as well as cultivating health emotions. Creating brief times or small, manageable strategies (micro-practices) contribute to our ability to form and secure ways to build lasting benefits.

This program offers the opportunity to examine and practice techniques that can be adapted and applied to your schedule and needs to cultivate a life of joy and well-being.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define mindfulness, meditation and well-being and identify the relationship between them
  • Develop an understanding of how mindfulness, meditation and well-being impact all areas of life.
  • Identify and create strategies to implement mindfulness and meditation techniques for improving well-being.

In the US, Dr. Register’s is primarily centered on the recognition of music therapy by state governments and the recognition of the MT-BC credential as the required credential for all practicing professionals. In exploring various types of meditation and mindfulness practices, Dr. Register was led to deeper study of Ayurvedic lifestyle and Primordial Sound Meditation with Dr. Deepak Chopra. As a Chopra certified meditation teacher, she leads meditation sound healing practices at the Chopra MindBody Zone in Lake Nona, FL.
